Panama hat with fedora shape, breeze quality. The Balaro model has a 10 cm crown and a 6.5 brim, its grey color and its striped ribbon makes it an interesting design for a casual wardrobe alternative. Finished off with a matching striped grosgrain ribbon and classic bow. It has silicone reinforcement in the area of the crown to protect it from pinching with the fingers, thus ensuring great durability and a very comfortable inner sweatband.
The elaboration of a true Panama hat is the result of a long and delicate process. Only the virtuosity of Ecuadorian artisans is capable of achieving one of the highest quality products in the world. The variations in the color and dimensions of the straw are due to its totally natural origin and are one more example of the authenticity of the article. Our hats are unique, true works of art carved by hands that have managed to collect through generations, the wisdom of an ancient tradition.
It is in our factory where we shape the crown and the brim of the hat, to later dress it both outside and inside. For the manufacture of a handmade hat, the last is essential to give the shape of the capeline, which at first is a circular plane and before inserting it into the mold, it is transformed into a conical piece to facilitate its handling.
Pressure and heat are provided to this shape with machines that are reminiscent of hydraulic presses that have the last for the hat incorporated in their lower part. This procedure is fundamental, the heat, the desired shape is obtained in a fixed way for that hat model. With the shape of the crown created, the brim is formed according to the design. In this phase, ironing with a large amount of steam is very important, an element that will be very present throughout the general process. This step is carried out by hand by a factory operator with each of the hats that are made. When the brim is shaped, it is also trimmed to the specified length.
Finally, the hat would go through the sebrim workshop to be finished with all kinds of accessories such as ribbons, bows, lining, leather straps, etc.
1. MOISTURIZE YOUR PANAMA HAT
When you notice that your hat becomes dry and rigid, apply steam from an iron at a distance. In this way, your hat will gain flexibility and you will notice it less brittle.
2. STAINS
Since straw is a fiber very similar to paper, using an eraser (one of the classic Milan ones), most of the stains will disappear. However, there are others that need a little more skill. In these cases, try to remove it using a soft sponge moistened with water and coconut soap. If this does not work, it is best to take it to an expert hatter for a diagnosis of the possible repair.
3. WHEN YOU PUT ON AND TAKE OFF YOUR HAT
do not press the glass with your fingers. If you clamp your fingers in the area of the crown every time you take off and put on your panama, it may sooner or later break and frost, since it is the most delicate area of the hat. Therefore, the ideal is to put it on and take it off well, grasping it by the brim or manipulating it through the glass with delicacy, subtlety and softness
4. KEEP RIBBON AND BADANA CLEAN
To remedy it, using a cotton cloth moistened with water and coconut soap Gently rub the fabric where those unwanted sweat stains have formed. Once this is done, use the steam from the iron so that it is perfect again.
5. THE HEAT AND THE PANAMA
If you expose it to high temperatures (like the interior of a car), the heat will dry out a fabric like toquilla straw. Solution? Avoid leaving or storing your hat in places that reach excessive temperatures.
6. WATER AND PANAMA
Panama hats are used for times when the sun can cause discomfort. Therefore, they are not impervious to rain. If it ends up getting wet due to any circumstance, it must be hit with a clean cloth and then dried naturally in a ventilated place. To avoid deformation, never use direct heat sources such as dryers, radiators or heaters. Do not leave your panama wet under the rays of the sun, or it will roast!
7. HOW TO STORE TO HELP KEEP A PANAMA HAT LIKE A BRAND NEW ONE
use a hat box with the appropriate size to store and protect it. With it you will avoid that the hat receives blows and deforms or breaks due to the pressure of other objects.
The Balaro hat is the perfect complement for looks in earth tones. Garments made of natural linen, cotton, etc. combine perfectly with its warm gray color and its striped ribbon. It will be a faithful complement that will dress heads during the six months of spring and summer.
