How to keep your summer hats in the closet?

Summer is over and that means saying goodbye to this season’s hats that will have to go back to the closet and wait until next year to raze again in the streets, beaches and all kinds of events.

For that to be the case, it is important to keep in mind a series of tips that will help us make our hats look like the first day, season after season.

The first thing we have to do with our summer hats is to clean them. If the hat is made of cotton or linen, the best way to clean it is to rub it gently with circular movements with water, to which a bit of neutral soap can be added. It is important to make sure the hat is totally dry before we store it in the closet. If it is still wet, it is recommendable to let it dry in a place where it is not directly exposed to the sun and, once it is dry, it can be stored.

When storing them, it is indispensable to have a hatbox just to avoid damaging the hat with dust and that it can lose its shape if it is not protected from other objects inside the closet or shelf. Furthermore, it is important too to keep the hat upside down since this way all the weight is on the crown and not by the brim, preventing it from being deformed.

Surely, soon we will begin to put the heating in the house to protect us from the cold weather. When that happens, it is important that our hats are not near a heat source because, in that case, if we place them near a radiator, the hat material will get very dry and will lose quality.

However, if your hats are an example of your style and you don’t want to ‘waste’ them in your closet, then the best option is to leave them at first sight and make them a part of your home or workplace decoration. It is always better to store them if you are not going to use them during the season, but this can be the perfect option for hats that even if you don’t use them often you want to keep on hand. For this, we propose you to use wall hangers, as they do not take up space and also give an elegant look to any room.
